Beauty
The children had grown, married, and had families and pets of their own when Bob and I found ourselves with no pet to take care of which seemed like a nice break. But we also had no pet to love. I had decided I would get my Sheltie for my birthday the upcoming summer. God has a way of changing our plans
Our daughter Cindy called to say Robbie's dog Beauty needed a new home. Bob said "No. The hurt when they die is just too painful." We got Beauty. When Jim brought her to the house, she jumped into my arms and joined the family.
The first night when Bob and I got ready for bed, I looked at Beauty and said, "Just where are you going to sleep?" Up on the bed she jumped. She slept between us from then on. Unlike the Poodles and Shelties, Beauty didn't bark much. She loved everybody. Anyone could come in the house and she would join them on their lap if they didn't mind.
Beauty moved with us to Alma. I loved taking her on walks around the park and sometimes down to the lake. Beauty wanted nothing to do with the water.
Beauty could smile!
Beauty was diagnosed with Diabetes. The Vet recommended a special diet to try to keep it under control. It consisted of browned hamburger drained and rinsed in cold water, low fat cottage cheese, and rice in equal portions mixed together. We took care of Beauty and continued to love her until February 21, 2001, when Beauty joined the rest in Pet Heaven. Tears came down again. Eventually the hurt weakens and what remains are the special memories each pet leves behind.
