Gemini

Cindy had a dog named Gemini when her first-born son Michael Lane arrived. She was a mixed breed and a very special, friendly dog. Gemini visited us several times when we lived on West Rose in Lincoln. Later when Bob and I were living in Pleasant Dale, Cindy and her family rented a small house just outside of town. Gemini was still with them.

I can well remember the day I was up at the ballpark and looked out towards the outfield. Gemini was running across the ball diamond. She wasn't supposed to be loose. I hollered, "Gemini, what are you doing in town? (Like she was going to answer me) Go home!" Away she went heading back home.

Gemini was around for quite awhile but her turn came to join the others in the beautiful fields of Pet Heaven where nobody hollers, "Gemini, go home!"

Jenny

Jenny was a Collie. Mom and Dad decided to be caretakers at Camp Harriet Harding near Louisville, Nebraska, after Daddy retired from teaching. They had cabins, a swimming pool, lodge, and horses to take care of. I took this opportunity to bring another Collie into the family. I urged Mom and Dad to get a dog. The camp was quite a distance from the nearest town and many times they were alone. To help sell my point, I suggested a Collie would be good help with the horses. That turned out to be a big joke. The first time Dad took Jenny with him down to meet the horses, Jenny took one look at them and jumped back into the truck.

Jenny was probably not a pure Collie as most of the dogs bred in the area were part Coyote. She never learned she wasn't a "lap" dog and loved to jump up on anyone's lap who would have her.

When Mom and Dad retired from their job as caretakers, they felt Jenny could never be happy living in the town of Lincoln. She was given to a young man in the area who took very good care of her and loved her. I figure Jenny met Victory in Pet Heaven.

The next Kennel features Joe and Judy's dogs.
