Reverend Ferdinand Sattler baptized Bob (Robert Jack Robertus) on December 18, 1935. His sponsors were Martin Jacobs, Kathryn Grassmick, and Bob's Aunt Bertha Harris
Beginning at an early age, Mom Robertus saw to it her children attended Sunday School and Church regularly at Ebenezer Congregational Church.
On April 2, 1950, Bob was confirmed by Pastor Ferdinand Sattler. His memory verse was from John 8; 31,32 "If ye continue in my word then ye are my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free."
Education
Bob attended Park School, located on 9th and F Street for Kindergarten to Junior High. Like most little boys, his favorite part of the school day was recess, lunch hour, and the end of the day.
In those days, the principal of the school ruled with an iron hand and a paddle. Bob was known as the class clown. He loved to make the other kids laugh which meant many trips to the principal's office.
Bob's talent was in his art work. In the 5th grade at Park School, Bob was chosen to help with a large mural for the lunch room which meant he would get out of other classes to do the work
Everett Junior High was his next stop on his way to the high school diploma. During his junior high years, he caught the attention of his art teacher. She signed him up for classes at Moral Hall on the University of Nebraska campus. They were held every Saturday morning. Bob can't remember much about those classes except that he wasn't very happy spending his Saturday mornings attending another school activity. Among some of the memorabilia is a pencil drawing Bob created at the age of 15. Bob was offered a scholarship to attend an art school but, he opted not to pursue this opportunity and get a job.
From Everett Junior High, Bob moved on to Lincoln High and graduated on June 5, 1953.
