Time to Write a Few Things

This graphic design was created for the first My Trixie Website in the old photo draw software.

I meant to write this before Valentines Day for whoever stumbles across this Blog. However you know what they say about good intentions.

When going through my mom's collections, I ran across this poem which she didn't write but meant something to her. Now that Bob and I are in our Golden Years, it means something to me.

"He walks with careful, measured tread . . my Valentine with silvered head.
His kind face smiles through lines of care the brush of time has painted there.
Does my heart wane at lines of care; change attitude with his thinning hair?
Oh No! The love of my life I still behold for hand in hand we both grow old."

Trixie's Birthday

Trixie's birthday has also come and gone for the year 2012. On February 18, she was 11 years old making her 51 in people years. I have a chart which someone gave me several years ago and shows that when I am 75 and Trixie is 14, we will be the same age.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

I try every year on February 27 to bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies. It is a way I have of remembering Dad for that is the date he was born in 1909. When Dad retired, he spent a lot of his time baking. Mom hated giving up her kitchen because . . well he was messy when he baked! Dad was just getting back to his roots since he paid his way through college working in a bakery.

When we all lived in Pleasant Dale, it was my habit to stop in every so often. I always seemed to have a sixth sense as to when Dad had baked chocolate chip cookies. I guess they saw me coming up the street for he would greet me at the door with two chocolate chip cookies on my plate and a cup of coffee. Precious Memories!

Jim suggested I date my Blogs. Today is February 28, 2012.
