MARCH MADNESS

One of my favorite times of the year is just around the corner. When I was a little girl, March meant the high school basketball championships. We always expected Lincoln High to be in the playoff games. Of course, there were years when they didn't make it out of the districts. There is nothing like watching a basketball championship game. The sounds and sights in the old University of Nebraska Coliseum still echo in my memory banks.

Now my passion in March lies with the college basketball playoffs. It is my time to take the first four days off from all other activities and watch the round of 64 be reduced to the Sweet 16. The games start in the morning and run until late into the night. Prior to the beginning of the playoffs, I plan meals that can be ordered or micro waved. I gather all of my current crochet projects, embroidery projects and quilting to be sure I can fill the days with flying fingers and clicking needles mingling with the cheers, whistles, and bouncing balls. I love it!

That is to say, I love it until my favorite teams get knocked off by the Elite 8 and when it is time for the Final Four, I have lost complete interest.

This serves as my notice "DO NOT DISTURB" March 15-18, 2012.
